The Internal Quality Assurance Directorate (IQAD)

Introduction

The Internal Quality Assurance Directorate of the University College was officially established on 1st August, 2013 to promote effective coordination of internal and external quality assurance activities in order to enhance quality at all levels of the University College. The Directorate is under the office of the President and reports directly to same.

Mission of the Unit

The Directorate exists to develop and monitor the implementation of frameworks and policies for enacting quality at all levels of the University College through effective staff and student engagement.

Vision

The vision of the Directorate is enhanced student satisfaction and staff fulfilment for quality graduate outcomes.

Functions of the Unit

The Directorate performs the following functions:

  • Advise the University College on matters relating to Quality Assurance and enhancement. Review, interpret and implement quality assurance standards, monitor unusual occurrences and report follow-up procedures periodically.
  • Oversee the University’s accreditation and affiliation process and other quality related engagements with National Accreditation Board, affiliate Institutions and other stakeholders
  • Supervise the conduct of Education
  • Facilitate the development, dissemination and application of quality benchmarks for various academic and administrative activities of the University College
  • Develop and maintain a database on quality-related information and facilitate the development and assessment of curricula
  • Ensure that quality assurance policies and standards are disseminated and available to relevant interested parties (e.g. Students, External Examiners, Professional and Statutory Bodies, Affiliate Institutions)
  • Facilitate the development and assessment of curricula

The Directorate is currently under the Directorship of, Alexander Gyamfi (PhD), and assisted by Mr. John Amponsah Tabi.

JOHN AMPONSAH TABI

Mr. Tabi Amponsah is a self-motivated, result-oriented young man. A Quality Assurance Officer with experience in ensuring, that standards are adhered to and maintained.  Strategic young man with strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving and decision making skills. He has the ability to establish and maintain strong alliances; lead and motivate teams; drive projects to successful completion; meet and exceed management expectations and achieve results from a pool of knowledge in Planning, Quality Assurance and experience in managing people, programmes and facilities

Mr. Tabi Amponsah holds a Master of Science in Development Planning and Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He has attended several quality assurance related workshops to enhance his skills in what he does. Amongst the workshops he has attended includes:

  • Improving quality through effective measurement and evaluation (2018) organized by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
  • Liaison Committee workshop on quality related issues(2017), organized by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
  • 21st Century Quality Assurance Knowledge and Skill (2017), organized by the Association of African Universities
  • Data Management (2017), organized by the National Council for Tertiary Education

These and among several other workshops/seminars organized by the National Accreditation Board and The National Council for Tertiary Education have added to the pool of knowledge he has.

Mr. Tabi Amponsah has worked in the Quality Assurance office since 2015 and has contributed to the success of the University College through this office and committees he served.

Mr. Tabi Amponsah aspires to begin a doctor of philosophy in Conflict Resolution in the very nearest future. He seeks to bring on board such ideas into the higher education industry, where he hopes to contribute to the reconciliation of immerging issues
