Mr. Kofi Amankwaah Karikari has been newly appointed as the Registrar of Garden City University College (GCUC) for a four – year term, beginning January 01, 2021. Mr. Karikari is a retired deputy Registrar of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi; having worked with the university for 30 years. He was appointed in December 1990 and rose through the ranks of Junior Assistant Registrar, Assistant Registrar, Senior Assistant Registrar and Deputy Registrar from September 2006 – July 2020. He served in various offices including the Admissions office, Examinations office and as Senior Assistant Registrar/Secretary School to Graduate Studies. He served in the capacity as a Deputy Registrar General – Administration, Deputy Registrar – Human Resource Development, Deputy Registrar – Academic and Students Affairs and College Registrar – College of Health Sciences.
He attended Jachie – Pramso Secondary School in 1976 for his Ordinary level (O –level ) Certificate and Achirensua Secondary for his GCE Advanced level ( A-level) Certificate in 1981. He attended the University of Ghana (School of Administration), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Administration (1988), Post Graduate Diploma (Industrial Management (1994) and Master’s degree in Development Management (1998) respectively.
He has travelled far and wide and has attended many conferences. His interest is in University Administration and Management Systems and Structures.
The is the University College's Chief Administrative Officer and Secretary to the Council of the University.
The Office of the Registrar plays a significant function in the management of the University College. It could be described as the pivot of all functions in the College.
The Office plays various roles Including General Administration, Human Resource Development, Management of Academic and Students Affairs, Legal & Welfare, and University College Relations Office. In addition there are other units namely Estates and the IT Unit.
