Prof. Yankah calls for tertiary education partnerships
The increased enrollment at senior high schools in the country should make all stakeholders appreciate the importance of public-private partnerships in the delivery of quality tertiary education,
according to chairman of the Council of Independent Universities (CIU) Prof. Kwesi Yankah.
Citing the 2012 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, which saw almost 180,000 students graduating from 652 schools in Ghana, Prof. Yankah said it would have brought enormous difficulties to parents and students if private universities had not been available to augment the small number of public universities in the country.
“Ghana needs strong public-private partnerships when it comes to tertiary education,” he said ahead of the council’s eighth anniversary celebrations on Wednesday, May 14 at the Ghana Technology University College in Tesano, Accra.
